Go live in a day.

You do not need an engineer, a new tablet, or a free weekend. If you have your menu and your restaurant's phone number, Voitly can be answering calls and taking real orders before tonight's service, with QR table ordering added on top. Here is the whole thing, in the order you will actually do it.

Time to read: 6 minutes. Time to do: about 30.Most owners finish setup over a coffee and take their first live order the same shift.

What you need before you start

Nothing exotic. Just these three things within reach:

  • Your menu, in any form. A PDF, a photo, a spreadsheet, or the page on your existing website all work.
  • An email address and five minutes to create the account.
  • Your restaurant's phone number, ready to forward to the AI. This is the main event.
  • A printer for your table QR codes, or a phone to display one code while you test. You can print properly later.

You do not need to cancel anything. Voitly sits alongside your current POS and printers. Nothing gets ripped out.

The core steps to your first order

  1. Create your account

Go to the sign up page and enter your name, email, and a password. No card is required for the 7-day trial. The moment you finish, your restaurant workspace is created with ten tables and four starter menu categories already in place, so you are never staring at a blank screen.

  2. Add your menu

Open the Menu tab and add your items under each category. For each dish you can set the name, price, a short description, and any allergens. The description matters more than you think: it is what the AI uses to answer questions and suggest the right dish, so a line like "rich, slow-braised, our most popular main" earns its keep.

If your menu is long, start with one category and your top sellers. You can take a live order tonight with twenty items and finish the rest tomorrow.

Full detail lives in Building your menu.

  3. Set your AI's tone and name

In Settings, give your AI a name and pick a tone: warm and professional, casual and friendly, or refined and formal. This is the difference between a guest feeling looked after and a guest feeling processed. Pick the one that sounds like your room. You can change it any time and the new tone takes effect on the very next order.

More on this in Languages and AI personality.

  4. Point your phone line at Voitly

This is the one that pays for itself. Forward your restaurant's number to Voitly and the AI answers the line in one ring and takes the order 24/7, in a natural conversation, dropping it straight into the same Orders tab as everything else. The phone stops ringing out during the rush, and the orders your team could not get to start landing on their own. Every plan includes a monthly bundle of minutes.

Setup takes a few minutes and is covered in Switch on phone AI.

  5. Add QR codes to your tables

Voitly also includes QR ordering at the table. Each of your tables already has a unique QR code waiting in the Tables tab. Download them, print them, and put one on each table. A guest scans, sees your menu on their phone, and taps to order in seconds. No app, no download, no account for the guest.

The step-by-step is in Set up QR ordering.

  6. Take a live order and watch it land

Call your own number and order a dish, then confirm; or scan one of your table codes and tap through. Now open the Orders tab on any screen in the kitchen. Your order appears in real time, with the source (phone or table), the items, and any notes. Move it from new, to cooking, to ready, to served with a tap. That is the whole loop, and you just ran it.

Test before service, every time.Placing one test order on each new table takes a minute and means the first guest who scans never hits a surprise. Cancel the test order from the Orders tab when you are done.

Connect your POS and printers (optional)

Voitly works on its own from minute one. When you are ready, connect Square, Toast, Stripe, or your kitchen printers so tickets flow into the workflow your team already knows. Nothing changes about how your line cooks read a ticket. See the full list on the integrations page.

A sensible first-day order of play

If you like a plan, here is the one we would follow:

  • Morning: create the account, add your top one or two categories, set the AI tone.
  • Midday: forward your phone line and place a test call, print codes for a few tables, run a test order, fix anything that looks off.
  • Before service: confirm your number is forwarded and place codes on every table, then brief your team in one sentence ("the AI answers the phone and guests can scan to order, both land on our kitchen screen").
  • During service: watch the first few real orders land, then finish adding the rest of your menu between covers.

One honest tip.You do not have to roll out everything at once. Forward your phone line and put codes on five tables tonight, see it work with your own eyes, and expand tomorrow. Confidence beats a big-bang launch every time.
