Languages and AI personality.
Two settings shape how every guest experiences your restaurant: the language your AI speaks and the personality it speaks with. Get both right and a guest from anywhere feels like a regular from their first message. Here is how each one works and how to set it.
Speak every guest's language
Turn on multilingual and the AI reads the language a guest writes in, then replies in that same language automatically. It covers 40 or more languages. A guest who types in Spanish gets Spanish back, a guest who types in Japanese gets Japanese back. There is no setting to flip per table and nothing for your team to do. The AI works it out from the first message and stays in that language for the whole conversation.
If you run anywhere near tourists, this changes the table. A visitor who cannot read your menu usually orders the one thing they recognise or quietly leaves. When the AI answers in their own language, they ask the questions they actually have, order the dishes they actually want, and spend more because they understand what they are buying. Hotels feel this even harder: a front desk fields guests from a dozen countries in a single morning, and the AI handles every one of them at once without a phrasebook.
It also takes pressure off your floor. Your team no longer has to play translator mid-rush. The AI carries the language, your people carry the plates.
Switch it on
-
Open Settings
Go to the Settings tab in your dashboard. The language and personality controls live together in one place.
-
Turn on multilingual
Flip the multilingual toggle on. That is the whole setup. The AI will now detect and match any of the 40 or more supported languages on its own.
-
Test it in another language
Call your own number and speak in a language other than English, or scan one of your own table codes and type a message in one. Either way, watch the AI reply in that language straight away. Once you have seen it work, you can trust it with the next guest who calls or scans.
Give your AI a personality
The same AI can feel like a different waiter depending on how you set it. Two controls do most of the work: the name you give it and the tone it speaks in.
Name your AI
Set the name your AI uses when it greets a guest, whether on a phone call or at the QR table. A name makes the AI feel like a person rather than a form to fill in. Choose something that fits your room, whether that is friendly and first-name or quietly formal. The greeting reads as "Hi, I'm Sofia, your server tonight" rather than a faceless prompt, and guests respond the way they would to a real introduction.
Choose a tone
Pick one of three tones, and pick the one that sounds like your service:
- Warm and professional. Looked after but not fussed over. This is the safe middle most full-service rooms want, and it reads well to almost any guest.
- Casual and friendly. Relaxed, chatty, first-name energy. Right for a cafe, a bar, or a fast and fun spot where stiffness would feel wrong.
- Refined and formal. Measured and precise, the voice of a fine-dining room. It signals care and occasion before the food even arrives.
The tone is the difference between a guest feeling welcomed and a guest feeling processed. The same answer can land as charming or cold depending on how it is phrased, and this setting controls that across every reply.
Upselling
When you turn upselling on, the AI suggests items that go with what a guest has already chosen, naturally rather than pushily. A guest ordering a steak might hear about the pepper sauce or a glass that pairs with it, the way a good server mentions it once and moves on. The typical extra per table is small, often the price of a side or a drink, but it adds up fast across a full service.
Allergen flagging
With allergen flagging on, the AI always flags allergens when they are relevant to what a guest is asking about or ordering. If the allergen information is on a dish in your menu, the AI surfaces it at the right moment instead of waiting to be asked. It is a quiet safety net that runs on every order without your team having to carry it in their heads.
Custom greeting
Set the opening line the AI uses when a guest first calls or scans. This is the first thing every guest reads, so make it yours. Drop in your restaurant's name, a line about tonight's special, or a simple welcome in your own voice. Type it in the greeting field in Settings and it becomes the first message of every conversation from then on.
Make it sound like your room.Match the tone to how your service actually feels, not how you think a restaurant is supposed to sound. Then give the AI a name your regulars would expect to hear at your door. The closer it fits your room, the less it feels like software and the more it feels like part of the team.
Changes take effect on the very next order.Every setting on this page applies immediately, so you can adjust the tone, rename the AI, or rewrite the greeting and see the result on the next conversation. Tweak it, send a test message, and read it back until it sounds right.
What to read next
You have the AI sounding right. Now sort out the rest:
- Switch on phone AI to see how the AI answers the line in one ring and takes the order 24/7.
- Plans and billing to see which plan includes the settings you want.
- Set up QR ordering to see exactly what a guest reads when they scan.
